Send letters to the editor of your local newspaper. You'd
be surprised how many people read them! Let other citizens and legislators
know you're aware of what's going on and that you expect state officials
to be accountable to the people.
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Attend public forums, meetings
for city councils, school boards, chambers of commerce, community
clubs, political events and conferences, etc.
Would you like to be in a position to influence policy? Participate
in a party caucus or volunteer for a local campaign. Better yet, run
for office!
Contact your state and local representatives and share your
thoughts. Call them, schedule a meeting, or write a note. Thank them
when they do a good job and hold them accountable when they do not.
Call your local newspaper, radio, and tv news reporters and
editors. If there are important issues you aren't seeing covered,
let them know. If they've done a great job covering the issues, let
them know that, too.
Talk to your own children and grandchildren. Make certain
they understand the principles of the free market and personal responsibilitythe
principles of liberty.
