Can Classes

The Citizen Action Network completed the first two classes in our The Rule of Law & Liberty series earlier this year.  We are will be offering the third installment, Checks and Balances, in November and December.  If you would like to be notified when Checks and Balances is scheduled to take place near you, please join our CAN Alert email list by clicking here.

The Rule of Law and Liberty 103: Checks and Balances

“Can’t live with it, can’t live without it.” That often seems to be the relationship between government and freedom. How do we get the government we need to safeguard a free society without that power getting out of hand? James Madison summed up the problem in Federalist No. 51. “In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

The final installment in The Rule of Law and Liberty will show you what’s behind the “checks and balances” in our Constitution: what they are and how they’re designed to work. As usual, we’ll look at the damage done by Progressive ideology and what we can do to revive constitutionalism in these United States.

Check back in October 2010 for a full listing of the dates and locations.
