Health Care: What You and I Can Do

Any thinking person will acknowledge we have a real crisis in our health care system, but a government takeover, as some have proposed, is the wrong solution. Merely opposing this plan without offering real solutions, however, will cause us to lose the battle.
Any alternative must have several key elements:
- It will be patient-centered. The key decision makers will be patients and their health care practitioners.
- It will use market forces and transparency to reduce waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement in the system.
- Litigation reform will be addressed so doctors can quit practicing very expensive defensive medicine. It will reward wellness and good health practices.
In past years we have done extensive research into alternatives that incorporate these principles. While some of the data is from a few years ago, the ideas and trends are very relevant to today’s healthcare debate.
